Doing a standard Wednesday morning browse through one of my favorite Sydney photographers, Alex Jennings, portfolio I was just as surprised as I was delighted to stumble across these montages featuring yours truly...

Not sure that I am meant to admit I am "delighted" by coming across works starring me, myself & I but hey as I keep reading lately, blogs are all about unashamed ego stroking right? Wrong.

Alex is probably one of the most passionate, knowledgeable photographers I have encountered. Rarely do I admire someone's work with such genuity, a true artist in every sense of the word.

Whenever I'm around him I catch photography fever - it's highly contagious I tell you - being able to "rabbit on" (as he likes to say) about his ideas and inspirations for many, many minutes without stopping. I always walk away craving film and the desire to create a distinct, organic vision of my own.

Do yourself a favour; brew a pot of tea, settle in, keep that online ADD we all have under control, and allow yourself to have a long browse through his portfolio. I'll refund you your time if you're not inspired.

Jenny Holzer - Inflammatory essays. Pompidou Paris, 2010

I need to write, to release, to clarify, to consolidate, to see my thoughts but it's not flowing so here's my reworked Holzer essay....

FREEDOM IS IT! YOU'RE SO SCARED. WHAT CAUSED THIS SITUATION? WHAT HAPPENS NOW? LET PEOPLE FULFILL THeIR NEEDS. FREE PEOPLE ARE GOOD, PRODUCTIVE PEOPLE. LET IT EXPLODE. RUN WITH IT. DON'T CONTROL OR MANIPULATE. CLARIFY THE MIND. DEFINE THE WILL. RESTRAIN THE SENSES. VOMIT THE HEART. REJECT ACQUAINTANCES. DISSECT MYTH. SLOW MODIFICATION CAN BE EFFECTIVE. MEN CHANGE BEFORE THEY NOTICE AND RESIST.
DON'T TALK DOWN TO ME. DON'T TRY TO MAKE ME FEEL NICE. YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. YOU THINK NO ONE CAN REACH YOU. LET ME IN.
LET ME IN.

I have one zzzzillion RAFW photos to post but y'all are being bombarded right now so I'll probably save it for next week when no one gives a shiz.

Absolute abundance of raw energy, passion and honesty flowed through the room as we talked love, music, art, sadness & beauty.
It's what my dreams are made of and I always feel out of body when they become reality.

Feel so blessed to be able to capture what I see as the essence of experience.

Hipster hate aside I sort of have a thing for these geometric shape clad landscapes.
It would be a lie to say there isn't a whole heap of eye-soring junk out there, but if well curated there's quite a visual treat to be had.
(turn photo upside down, insert stimulating words, desaturate accordingly, choose appealing tones, find a pop colour and boom you have yourself a winner)

It was the perfect night to be sitting on the porch, drinking a soda with your summer crush whilst the cicadas hummed and the anticipation of an awkward first kiss lingered in the sweet air...

...yes, typical American movie scenes is a dialect I think fluently in.

Mysterious, glamourised melancholy with an ever intriguing mix of reality and fantasy. This is Annie Liebovitz to me.

In case you didn't know....

The Museum of Contemporary Art and Events NSW are delighted to announce that Sydney will be the exclusive Australian venue for the exhibition Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life 1990–2005. The exhibition will open at the Museum of Contemporary Art on 19 November following a record-breaking tour in the US and Europe

Paul Jasmine is a dreamer and I think if I ever met him I would admire and learn a lot from his soul experience.

He says his photography is "making something romantic of reality". Reality is romantic and my love for these images is limitless.

First up - diaries.
I am OBSESSED with Japanese stationary company Delfonics. I still get a thrill every time I get out my B6 Tybe B pocket diary. The plastic covering leaves plenty of room for customisation (I'm sure that wasn't the intended purpose but meh) whilst the series of conversion charts, Japanese metro maps and note section make it a great distraction during dull meetings, laborious lectures, coffee dates with myself and so on and so forth.
It says in German on the front "A New Love Story". I love that. Especially in the context of a diary.

Inside the back cover sits one of my all time favourite images of Pattie Boyd and George Harrison. Can you see it? The one with the roses? No word of a lie when I say my heart flutters when I look at that photo. I want her, her blue crop top and big doey eyes, I want him, I want to have taken it, been in it, seen it. I like it a lot.

SEGWAY: Pattie Boyd. After seeing her exhibition early this year I have a couple of images engrained into my visual memory for life.
