Family
Who ever said working with family was a bad idea obviously hasn't been a part of my family. Emma & I have actually worked together for the past 5 years or so. It started off serving bread rolls & making chicken wraps at the bakery just a minute up the road from where we lived, getting paid cash in hand and having riotous karaoke christmas parties.
For another time we would sit on a shuttle bus at 4am most days of the week taking us from the dark carpark to the Qantas domestic terminal where we would laugh & cry at the hilarity and pain only 4am starts could bring.
We made our way through various other hospitality ventures and this is actually the first time I've stopped and considered how very blessed we are to now be collaborating on 'work' that see's us both in the fields that we dreamed of not all that long ago.
These photos were taken a windy Autumn afternoon when the light was low, with a team of only two and the advantage of knowing her face probably better than my own.
They are to accompany a track - a taste - from her upcoming album. Listen to Never In a Million Years here but definitely watch out for a first single coming very soon.

I am looking to solidify vision. See the dream no matter how wild and far beyond it may seem.
Patrick Demarchelier gave this interview a couple of years ago that didn't particularly impress me. There was a certain cocky, self righteous, 'I'm 66 and all these new photographers on the block (new being Sims, Sorrenti, McDean, Miesel et al chhhhhhyeah) got nothing on me' kind of tone that I was reading into and not digging. But whilst being unendeared I was also being toughened up to idea/reality that 'success' in a photographic world still may be decades away in a way that I do not know or imagine at this stage.
Meanwhile, I thought I'd share some photos. Can't deny the fact the man takes a dam beautiful picture.

Live on

I have noticed lately that I have spent more time being and working on the 'now' and my vision for the future (all a bit self focused I must say) whereas I used to spend hours lost in another time, a yesteryear, with little regard to how that could translate to anything I may be doing or foreseeing on a very cold, blustery May day in 2012 for example.
I decided to bring back a bit of balance passing the past hour or so leisurely trawling through the extensive archives of fashion photographer Arthur Elgort. At 72 years of age, and with a rather current portfolio, Arthur is the perfect bridge from then to now - but his supermodel era black & whites is where it really kicks off for me (followed closely with his images of ballet practice). I think he must have been quite the fox with all his girls playing to the camera with not-so-subtle sensuality. Foxy indeed!

Pucci pants
Have been waiting for an appropriate break from my own travel rants with Valentines posts, end of summer posts, pastel posts, ballet posts all lined up (in my head) but nothing quite kicked off.
But hey, here we are a week later so erm cheers to a continued increase in blog consistency for 2012!
When I returned home my (two copies of) Russh were waiting for me and what a lovely time I had this afternoon catching up sprawled lazilly across my afternoon-sun drenched bed. Almost as lovely as my 3pm 'chaser' nap.
The whole editorial is loose and delicate with such gorgeous tones and perfect shot selections I just wanted to eat the whole thing up with my eyes - which I actually think was quite succesful as I sit here typing in a white box seeing skinny arms, blue paint peeling walls, white, enviable mid length hair and natural rosy lips repeating on me. I have been particularly captivated by that midriff bearing shot with the white sheer, lace, embroided, beaded (don't know if all of those adjectives actually apply in real life but it's what I'm seeing so yeah) Pucci bra & pants.
Russh has been a part of my life, and probably one of my most significant visual influencers, for 7 years. I feel like with each change of team comes a change in the pages that I turn...but I'm ok with that. It's still Everlasting Love [Issue 44].

Follow up of this Tim White post from a couple weeks back.
One of if not the most beautiful series of bubs I've ever seen.
Been thinking...
Things I need in life; travel & babies. And photo's of travel and babies. And really amazing healthy fresh food to eat whilst I travel with my babies, and my love. Yep I've decided that's it. There's obviously a few factors that need to be negotiated around this but instinctively these are my most basic (yet oh so complex) needs.
