Line II

It was one of the only shows of the week that wasn't beholden to the fads of international fashion. Which isn't to say that the show wasn't trendy: there were midi skirts, and the luxe, languid lines of 90s-style dressing, flat sandals and deconstructed tailoring. But it was done Dion's way. It was done with the deft, light hand that has come to characterise a Dion Lee design: effortlessly cerebral, ingeniously constructed and wholly, almost breathtakingly wearable...
...Everything a nuanced, carefully orchestrated balance between edginess and chic, between confidence and comfort, between masculine and feminine. This is his particular talent, the ability to understand what women want to wear, and to make clothes that speak to how we dress now. - Hannah Rose Yee

No one can say what my eyes feel the way HRY can...but you all probably know that by now.
We (as a team, always) covered many more shows for Broadsheet Sydney which can be seen hereherehere & here.

Enough about me

It had been a long day lazing in the cabana with approximately seven and a half minutes of light hanging low in the sky. I had faded zinc plus some strawberry margarita left on my face and overdue-for-a-wash salted hair blowing in the wind...but I suppose I was determined and blissed out enough to excuse the non ideal - yet perfectly ideal - circumstances and shoot a few of my favourite things (to wear at a beach resort) for you.
I have a few requirements; must fold - or roll, depending on your packing style, must breathe, transition from beach to bar, float over the body for many reasons, hopefully not but realistically including sunburn, look as good with my favourite sandals as they do with complimentary white slippers and finally, match my mood. Sunny and light.
Despite my blank stares & expressions the memory of these moments in my mind are all smiles as I madly shouted directions at Mum ("Do NOT GET MY FACE IN THE FRAME!") and she semi obediently snapped away racing against the fading sun.

Manning Cartell

I would never say I'm a Manning Cartell kind of girl. I have found many bits & pieces (a particular pair of high waisted jodhpur pants with large pockets are coming to mind) over the years that I love and would mix in with my wardrobe but as whole I think of them as a major caterer to the "hotties" of Sydney and well, Australia I guess.
You know the ones...they squeeze into a simple, figure hugging number in some punchy offbeat colour, have a tan, comfortably wear ridiculous heels for long nights drinking champagne, were more than compatible with the cut-out trend and walk into any party knowing heads will turn. Yeah those ones. (If you're thinking you're detecting a bitchy tone stop right there sister cause you ain't - I admire these types, truly, I do!).
But wait. I think whilst I've been busy chasing the perfect denim & white tshirt combo and layering knits with turtle necks and tights and boots there's been a slight evolvement with Manning I may have missed. Sure, its still gonna be the hotties that are working a neon midriff this summer, but oversized bombers, printed pants and white lace are more than enough reason to keep me waiting for summers delivery.
