Line II

It was one of the only shows of the week that wasn't beholden to the fads of international fashion. Which isn't to say that the show wasn't trendy: there were midi skirts, and the luxe, languid lines of 90s-style dressing, flat sandals and deconstructed tailoring. But it was done Dion's way. It was done with the deft, light hand that has come to characterise a Dion Lee design: effortlessly cerebral, ingeniously constructed and wholly, almost breathtakingly wearable...
...Everything a nuanced, carefully orchestrated balance between edginess and chic, between confidence and comfort, between masculine and feminine. This is his particular talent, the ability to understand what women want to wear, and to make clothes that speak to how we dress now. - Hannah Rose Yee

No one can say what my eyes feel the way HRY can...but you all probably know that by now.
We (as a team, always) covered many more shows for Broadsheet Sydney which can be seen hereherehere & here.

Slick black

It's a presentation of many kinds, and this fashion week I am proud to be presenting with some of the cleverest ladies around; Hannah Rose & Talisa

Fashion week can feel as though you are excusing yourself from life for 5 days to visit an alternate universe that spins entirely on itself...and you know what - this year I am so excited for it! To help live this out we have a hotel, a schedule, dinner dates and Über.
omg
I am far from an outfit planner but at this stage the week is sounding fancy enough to induce those kinds of thoughts at the very least.

Über (German pronunciation: [ˈyːbɐ], sometimes written as (ueber , uber or uuber) is an app which is known around the world but fresh to the streets of Sydney, that we will be using to book our private (slick, black) cars from breakfast to show to lunch to show to show to afternoon tea to show to dinner to the room and so on and so forth all week.

Download the app or sign up to uber and recieve $20 credit if you enter the code sweetbirdyouth

Do it! And don't forget the code for 20 big ones in your account.

Walking backstage at Camilla was overwhelming for any number of reasons; flowers, colour, children, feathers, jingly bells, bangles, turbans, sparkles, embroidery, beading, models, tassels, prints and OH MY sensory overload...I am kind of tired even typing all of that! But, it was still day one of MBFWA and I kept reminding myself I was there for pleasure so I could relax and breathe and let it all sink at whatever pace it needed to. The kids were just too much cuteness in one bright, kaftan bunch and the best part of the whole affair was them coming off the runway jumping up and down taking it in turns to share what they had just experienced. Whilst I didn't make it front of house I am more than happy to name this my unexpected favourite of the week and as Hannah commented soon after, Camilla knows exactly (who and) what she's doing but she TOTALLY owns (plays to) it and that's what makes it work. Romance

What is there for me to say about Romance Was Born's MBFWA show that hasn't been tweeted, instagramed, blogged, printed, facebooked about already? Well, not much really. 36 hour time lapse during fashion week is ancient history by social media standards...but here's what I saw anyway. Highlights: wetted down concrete floor, high ceilings, copious amounts of beautiful natural light flooding all corners of the building, watching everyone check everyone out, the larger than life Marvel pop-up, the opening, rainbow sequins (they just never get old), the CUTEST baby wearing a (apparently RWB customised) green knit beanie which just happened to compliment Mark Vassallo orange one. Dislikes: pushy security during show.
