Back down the mountain

To be in a place where there is a fireplace and a bath and Aesop toileteries to soak in, a well equipped kitchen with a gas stove and Pana chocolate in the fridge, cosy robes in the wardrobe and a real heavy (IN BED linen) doona to sleep under. At first I wasn't sure what to do with it all. Do I sit, lay down, go for a walk, cook, listen to music, wander aimlessly around the cottage exploring all the treasures, take another bath, stand in front of the fire staring at Tim whilst he also tries to find his way of slowing down? I finally settled for a healthy combination of all of the above, felt my body start to unwind and then before I knew it was sadly pulling the door shut behind me as we set out for that familiar drive home through Berry mountain and back up the highway.

Thank you dear Lisa. I don't know how you do it but The Cottage is everything you ever dreamed it to be...and more. A place of rest and a treat for all the senses. xxx

I highly recommend booking a couple of nights here to see what you find for yourself!

PS. This has accidently turned to a blog dedicated to South Coast NSW holidays. Sorry about that. I'll change the pace next post.

Never forget

I never want to forget nights like this. A distinct youthfulness took charge as we walked aimlessly to the ocean, beers in hand (still novelty for me), laughing at everything and nothing all at once. It makes me feel dizzy with happiness. Cheap coastal motels with big views, terrible artworks, weird cleaning product smells, crisp sheets, individually wrapped Arnotts biccies devoured upon arrival. A thrice recommended Vietnamese restaurant was packed in this small town on a Friday night but takeaway eaten in the room went down better than we could have ever planned.

Escape

South Coast, NSW

Those pockets of time that you truly get lost in...where you forget about the people, jobs, things, problems, schedules, emails, expectations, to-do lists...where instead you chose to reset your soul to focus on an overriding hopefulness, are aware of beauty, in awe of the land, satisfied with small things, rested, content, warm, peaceful yet ready for all kinds of adventure. That was this weekend. The smell of fruit on the tree, a pastel pink haze hanging over the ocean at sunset, cold morning air, dirt roads that all lead upward, being at the top of the hill, cow calling and cold noses. Lounging by the fireside, finding new songs & a giddy excitement when realising how close heaven really is.

What a beautiful weekend it was. Laying in the grass, drinking tea and sangria (not always in that order), frying polenta, poaching eggs, sitting on the balcony, staring at the fields, chasing cows, dirt roads, mountains, valleys, a giant wooden swing, chocolate bunnies, the ocean, the wind, a wooden cabin, duck egg blue bed linen, falling sweetly asleep to the sounds of Melody Gardot...all with my love at my side. Many more photos to share with you soon.
